Annual Physical Treatment

Why do I need an annual physical?

Even if you feel healthy, you should schedule and attend your annual physical. It’s an opportunity to check in on your health and have critical screenings that can identify disease before you experience symptoms.

Many health problems, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes, don’t cause symptoms. However, when your provider diagnoses these conditions early, your treatment is often less invasive and more effective.

Health Care  keeps detailed records of your health and vitals, allowing your provider to quickly identify any changes in your health.

How should I prepare for my annual physical?

You don’t usually need to do anything special to prepare for your annual exam. Make sure to bring your ID and insurance card as well as a list of all medications, vitamins, and supplements you take regularly.

You might need to have blood tests as part of your annual physical. If so, you may need to avoid eating or drinking for several hours before your blood test. The friendly office staff lets you know when you make your appointment if you need blood work and if you need to fast beforehand.

What happens at an annual physical?

After you check in for your appointment, a member of the clinical team escorts you to the treatment area. They check your height, weight, blood pressure, and blood oxygenation levels.

Then you meet with your provider, who begins by reviewing your medical history and any changes that you’ve noticed in your physical or mental health.

They listen to your heart and lungs, then feel your abdomen and lymph nodes for signs of inflammation. They look into your eyes, ears, and throat. Your provider checks your balance, reflexes, and grip strength.

If you need any additional health screenings, the team at Health Care provides them at this time.

Finally, you review your overall health with your doctor and discuss treatments and lifestyle changes to improve your health and well-being.

What health screenings do I need?

The team at Health Care offers comprehensive health screening services, including pelvic exams, breast exams, Pap smears, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing, and prostate exams. They also provide testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STD) as well as for other diseases.
